Situated on Bridge Street, Ballinasloe Co Galway, Mill Race Nursing Home is managed and operated by Gerry and Tanya Gallen , both qualified and experienced nurses in this field.

This luxurious purpose-built development provides a comprehensive range of services, which includes long and short term nursing care, retirement, rehabilitation, palliative care, respite care and day care for all age groups.

The home has been specifically designed to facilitate the needs of its residents, taking into consideration their different levels of care requirements ensuring that the environment they live in is their home.

Each bedroom is tastefully decorated and furnished to the highest standards. All 60 bedrooms are en suite, and are suitable to accommodate clients with disabilities and wheelchairs.
Each bedroom has its own electrically operated bed, along with wheelchair access, telephone facilities and flat screen T.V. The home consists of 3 dining rooms, 3 lounges, and 2 smoke rooms.

The home has a tranquil Oratory, and religious services will be held by visiting clergy.
An in-house Laundry service, and a private visiting room are available.
Visiting services such as hairdressing, beautician, chiropody and physiotherapy will be readily available within Mill Race.

Home cooked food to meet the variety of different diets will be prepared by our in house catering team, home cooking and baking are a priority within the home.

Mill Race also offers daily activities which will be planned to meet the needs of the residents, this will include live music, social evenings, bingo, cards, games, school participation, gardening and painting.

Mill Race is situated within landscaped beautiful gardens, residents can enjoy exercise, relaxation and also participate in occupational therapy within this convenient setting.

What is the Nursing Homes Support Scheme?

The Nursing Homes Support Scheme provides financial support towards the cost of long-term nursing home care. Under the scheme, people who need nursing home care have their income and assets assessed, and then make a contribution towards the cost of their care based on their assessment.

The HSE will pay the rest, if any, of the costs of their care in designated public and approved private nursing homes covered under the scheme. People can choose care in any of the nursing homes included in the scheme provided that the nursing home can cater for the person's particular needs and that it has a place available for the person.
